Quick tips for you coupon "virgins"

So everyone is always asking me, "How does the couponing world work?"  I have sat down on a few occasions and gone thru the ins and outs as I know it with friends and family, but I am no expert.  I can only share from my experience and what I have learned from others.  Here are a few tips that I always give to "newbies" to get them started.

  1. Subscribe to a Sunday-only newspaper subscription (I have four).
  2. Utilize the internet to find and print coupons (coupons.com, smartsource.com, redplum.com, etc.)
  3. Get a couponing binder or organizer and keep organized.
  4. If you would use an item/product if it was free, keep the coupon until it expires.
  5. You can use one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon for the same item. (example: target.com coupon and a manufacturer coupon)
  6. Combining a good sale/promotion + coupon + store coupon = cheap or FREE items/products.  (If you throw a rebate into the mix, it could turn into a money maker.)
  7. Use a BOGO free coupon with a BOGO free sale and you will get 2 items/products for FREE!  Just pay tax (if it is not food).
This is just the tip of the iceberg because I know this can all be very overwhelming.  Thekrazycouponlady.com has a great beginners section on her website.  You can access that here.  Feel free to email me with any questions you may have.
